This project reimagines the packaging design for Disney Doorables’ “Whatcha Gotcha” machine through a more compact and sustainable structural system. The redesign focuses on reducing unnecessary size and material waste by eliminating excess cardboard panels and oversized packaging while maintaining the playful mystery and excitement central to the product experience. Replacing internal plastic bags with an integrated die-cut holding system, the packaging was developed to create a more efficient and environmentally conscious unboxing experience without revealing the collectible toy before opening.

Design Exploration
Concept 1

Using the silhouette of the toy itself, this concept explores a simplified structural design with a die-cut opening that reveals only the window of the “Whatcha Gotcha” machine, preserving the mystery of the hidden collectible inside.
Concept 2

This concept explores a pillow-pack structure designed to reduce material usage while fully concealing the toy within the package. A die-cut silhouette secures the toy in place, maintaining both structural stability and the mystery element of the unboxing experience.
